Lovely 18th C. paper scissors from Iran and Turkey:
http://khwaja.wordpress.com/2008/10/11/ny-times-the-art-of-calligraphy/
“Scissors from 18th-century Iran fold into a sleek, compact dart shape, rounded at the top and pierced with pinpoint fine openwork patterns. The finger holes of a large pair of scissors made in Ottoman Turkey form calligraphic characters that spell out one of the names of God. With every slice, the idea is, you say a prayer.”

Dieselpunk Home Finds for March 3rd
What is Dieselpunk you ask? Well, according to Dieselpunk.org it “is an art style and subculture that blends the aesthetics / pop culture of the 1920s - 1950s with today. To us, the “diesel era” was a time defined by warfare, Art Deco, pulp heroes, swing music, and noir gum shoes”
It is kin to Steampunk, embracing the later styles of the early 20th Century and is a fantastic interior design inspiration.
